Celebrating Centenarian Victor Kuras ’42
On Saturday, August 10th, cherished faculty emeritus Victor Kuras, Class of 1942, celebrated his 100th birthday in Huntington, NY. Victor is believed to be the first alum faculty member to reach this milestone, marking a historic moment for Brooklyn Tech.
Dr. Mathew Mandery ’61, Chief Educational Officer, and Michelle Corley, Director of Alumni Engagement and Inclusion, were on hand to honor Victor’s legacy at his birthday celebration.
After graduating, Victor worked for the Department of Defense as a machinist for the Manhattan Project, where he interacted with notable figures like J. Robert Oppenheimer and Lieutenant Leslie Groves. He later returned to Brooklyn Tech to teach Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from 1977 to 1989, leaving a lasting impact on his students. As a past honoree of our Long Island Chapter and a regular Homecoming attendee, Victor remains a beloved figure in our community.
