Give Back
As Technites, we respond to FACTS.
What If GIVING BACK Meant GIVING NOW and GIVING UNRESTRICTED?

FACT: For over 100 years, Tech has been a national leader in STEM.
Why it matters: Our 18 majors help students explore STEM-related areas and the social sciences before they even graduate. We develop problem solvers and groundbreakers.
FACT: We are preparing students for careers that don’t even exist yet.
Why it matters: Our future leaders break barriers of every kind.
FACT: There is NO WAY to know ALL the needs for this year, and funding simply cannot be fully obtained by the Department of Education.
Why it matters: To remain ahead of the curve, Tech needs flexibility to meet its needs.
FACT: We advance TOGETHER. Diversity is our strength.
Why it matters: With a 77% minority student population, Tech is placed 3rd in the nation and 1st in New York State in the 2025 Niche Standout High School rankings. Most of the 6,000 students are multilingual and over 59% are entitled to free/reduced lunch. A Tech education levels the playing field for ALL.
FACT: Unrestricted support packs the MOST powerful punch.
Why it matters: It takes innovation and financial support to be a world leader. Every dollar donated to the Centennial Fund empowers Tech to act quickly on what matters most. Give today to make an immediate impact.
Why Tech? Why Now?
Tech is the nation’s largest brick-and-mortar high school and the largest specialized public high school for STEM. Since its high school rankings began, U.S. News and World Report has named Tech a Gold Medal School. This year, Tech ranked 67th out of 18,000 schools.
“The Alumni Foundation’s Con Edison Internship program gave me the chance to apply the technical skills I learned at Tech to enhance New York’s clean energy grid. Seeing the next cohort of interns showcase their work made it clear how impactful this program is. I am just one of many who have grown and accomplished so much thanks to the partnership between the Alumni Foundation, Brooklyn Tech, and Con Edison.” — Dara Benyacar, Class of 2024 Valedictorian
THEIR STORY IS OUR STORY
There’s Power in Staying Connected and Giving Back
By giving as alumni, you are saying to our current Tech students, “You matter. We believe in you. You are agents of change.”
Together, we enrich the lives and opportunities of students by:
- Connecting past, present, and future Technites
- Recognizing the achievements of alumni who paved the way
- Providing alumni with meaningful opportunities to serve Tech’s students
Unleash the Power of Unrestricted Giving!
Faculty Grants, Supplies, and More
Thanks to alumni like you, last year alone our Faculty Grants benefitted close to 6,000 students. Can you imagine what we can achieve this year with your help?
Faculty Grants cover the direct costs of a wide range of activities — educational initiatives and field trips that range from Trout in the Classroom, athletics, arts, and STEM supplies and activities for robotics, physics, genetics, NSBE and more.
Last year we dispersed 85 grants totaling more than $177,000. The average grant amount was $2,900.
Initiatives Supporting Students on the Cutting Edge
Last year alone, the foundation supported:
- 110 Weston Research Scholars
- 20 Con Edison Interns
- 150 Thomas Volpe ’53 UrbanGlass Initiative students
- 2,670 Future World Vision student participants
Future World Vision: An Exciting Unrestricted Program
Brooklyn Tech’s Future World Vision STEM Pathways Consortium pairs Tech with seven Brooklyn middle schools to use the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Future World Vision Project to connect and activate high school and middle school students.
Future World Vision addresses six global trends: Alternate Energy, Autonomous Vehicles, Climate Change, Smart Cities, High Tech Construction/Advanced Materials, and Policy and Funding.
Consortium students are diverse: 42.5% are African American, 35.5% are Hispanic/Latinx, and 46% are female.
Future World Vision propels students decades ahead so they can start imagining and creating solutions.
“Since joining the Future World Vision Consortium, we have gotten more of our students into specialized high schools, mainly Brooklyn Tech—this year, we got 27 students in, and another 10 through the Discovery Program. Our students are happier, and even the students who may not go on to the specialized schools are still equipped to pursue their interests in STEM and STEM careers.” — L. Eric Windley, BTHS Class of 1981, and Principal, I.S. 318
Do Now: How to Make It Happen
To meet today’s increased challenges, we need to increase our alumni participation.
Help get our Alumni Giving up to 3,000 individuals!
Out of over 65,000 Technites on our rolls, only 1,373 were donors last year.
Let’s at least double it! Our strength is in our numbers!
Have you already donated? Can you reach out two Technites friends?
Share why you give to Brooklyn Tech and invite two fellow Technites to give too! Use this link, bit.ly/btafgive2024, on LinkedIn, Instagram, X, or Facebook.
