Homecoming 2024 Celebrates Historic Milestones
Brooklyn Tech Homecoming 2024 is in the record books! With over 900 enthusiastic alumni, 500 energetic students and faculty and staff volunteers, and the generous support of our sponsors, it was a weekend to remember.
The festivities kicked off on Friday, April 12, with the Alumni Dinner Cruise aboard the Hornblower Spirit of New York. Despite a stormy day, the sun broke through just in time for alumni to enjoy the spectacular sights of New York Harbor, a delicious buffet, an open bar, photobooth, and a packed dance floor, courtesy of a talented DJ. The energy was palpable as alumni reminisced and danced the night away during our lively Sneaker Ball, spearheaded by the classes of 1984.
Saturday morning saw the reunion of hundreds of alumni, along with their families, friends, and esteemed faculty emeriti, at our Homecoming Celebration at the school. This year held special significance as we commemorated the trailblazing first women graduates of Brooklyn Tech, alongside the 50th Anniversary Class of 1974, and the 1984 Baseball Champs. Additionally, we celebrated the remarkable 40-year journey of the Alumni Foundation, which has been instrumental in supporting and advancing Brooklyn Tech's mission.

A highlight of the event was our special guest speaker, Jumaane Williams ’94, New York City Public Advocate, who returned to celebrate his 30th anniversary together with his classmates. Among the distinguished attendees were Bernard Kleinman ’42, who turns 100 on June 25th, returning to Tech for the first time in 82 years, and Gerald A. Pollack ’47, alongside Dr. Pazel Jackson ’49, celebrating his 75th Anniversary.
The day was filled with captivating performances by our talented students, including the award-winning Lady Dragons and Organized Chaos step teams, the Brooklyn Tech Chorus, Jazz Band, Orchestral Ensemble, and remarkable soloists Kaya Richards ’24 (national anthem) and Valarie Hollingsworth, Esq. ’84 (Lift Every Voice and Sing).
Dr. Mathew Mandery ’61, Chief Educational Officer of the Alumni Foundation, reflected on the Foundation's journey over the past four decades, emphasizing the enduring bond between alumni and Brooklyn Tech.
The celebration continued with alumni dining together in the Tech cafeteria, class photos, a Fireside Chat with trailblazing ’74 women, the opportunity to browse Brooklyn Tech merchandise at our new Alumni Store, and self-guided tours of the school's facilities, highlighting the advancements since their graduation.

Saturday evening saw the party extend into eight reunion gatherings, and even Sunday brunches, all organized by dedicated class representatives. Alumni from across the country, spanning generations and backgrounds, came together to relive cherished memories and forge new connections.
As executive director Courtney J. Ulrich '90 eloquently expressed, Brooklyn Tech instilled in its alumni a profound sense of pride and community. The call to action was clear:
COMING HOME. GIVING BACK. CHANGING LIVES.
