Janice Chen ’93
Elected Civil Court Judge
A longtime Brooklynite and the daughter of Taiwanese immigrants, Janice Chen ’93 won an historic election on November 4 to the Civil Court bench of Kings County, becoming one of a small handful of Asian American women serving as judges in New York City’s most populous borough. She will don her new robes on January 1, 2026.
She has spent most of her career as a Court Attorney in Kings County Supreme Court’s Civil Term, working in numerous court parts, most recently in Guardianship, ensuring access to justice for all court users.
