Joseph M. Colucci, P.E., ’54
Engineer and Environmentalist
Known as the father of clean gasoline, Joseph Colucci led efforts that greatly improved the quality of automotive fuels and lubricants around the world. Now, vehicles last longer, drive better and produce fewer emissions, resulting in cleaner air. He spearheaded the movement to reformulate automotive fuels and remove sulfur to lower emissions. Mr. Colucci is a Distinguished Alumnus of Michigan State University; he received the prestigious Edward N. Cole Award for Automotive Engineering Innovations from the Society of Automotive Engineers and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
