Dr. Mario W. Cardullo, inventor, engineer and entrepreneur, is most widely known for his design and development of the first patented passive read/write radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag. This innovative technology uses a battery-free transponder and can transmit and collect information. It forms the basis of E-Z Pass and other electronic identification systems. RFID technology is now a $20-$25 billion a year industry. He has received the first patent for nano RFID devices, which measure smaller than blood cells.
