Girls Track and Field Coach
It is with profound sorrow that we report the death on March 24, 2023 of Robert Holmes, a beloved and highly respected retired Architecture teacher and Girls Track and Field coach. He uplifted many and leaves a lasting legacy.
Bob, who grew up in Sunset Park, played football with the legendary Knute Rockne team in Bay Ridge and was a pole vaulter on the track and field team at Fort Hamilton High School.

Coach Holmes served in the Marines as a forward observer during the Vietnam War. He began teaching in the Brooklyn Tech Architecture and Technology department in 1983 and in 1986 became the Girls Track coach, serving until 2004, when he left Brooklyn Tech. He returned in 2015 as a substitute teacher and proctor for Advanced Placement exams.
Bob was a great friend to all of us here at Tech and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Mary, son Jeremy and daughter Jessica.
