Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholars
On January 7, Brooklyn Tech seniors Olivia Nostro and Alisa Gordon were announced as Regeneron Science Talent Search Top 300 scholars. Science Talent Search is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious STEM competition. Alisa Gordon’s research, “The Effects of Acute and Chronic Sleep Deprivation on Metabolic Dysregulation via AgRP Neuronal Activity in the Arcuate Nucleus,” was performed at Columbia University and Olivia Nostro’s research, “Effects of Non-Pharmacological Treatments on Seizure Duration in Bang-Sensitive Drosophila melanogaster Mutants,” was performed at Brooklyn Technical High School as part of the Alumni Foundation’s Weston Research Scholars Program. Both Olivia and Alisa were selected from a pool of over 2,600 students and will each receive $2,000 awards for their research excellence.
