Technites Reunite for Centennial Homecoming 2023
Centennial Homecoming, March 24-25, 2023, was a huge success thanks to the hundreds of alumni who joined the celebration! We were thrilled to welcome more than 400 alumni aboard our Alumni Dinner Cruise on the Hornblower Infinity yacht on Friday, March 24 and to greet more than 650 alumni, their families, friends, and faculty emeriti at our Homecoming Celebration at the school on Saturday, March 25th.
Alumni across the generations reconnected on the Dinner Cruise, at the Homecoming Celebration at Tech, and Saturday evening’s nine reunion parties, organized by our dedicated and tireless class reps. This year we honored anniversary classes ending in 3 and 8 and members of the Technite Diamond Club (classes of 1973 and earlier). With visitors and donors from as far away as Italy and Norway, 33 states were represented by alumni last weekend – from Alaska to Hawaii, Texas, Oregon, New Mexico, Florida, Indiana and Maine, and many states in-between.
Friday’s Alumni Dinner cruise included music and dancing, special guest artist/producer Milk Dee, and, of course, 360-views of the New York skyline and harbor, featuring stunning vantage points on the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge. Saturday’s Celebration was filled with performances, including by our award-winning Lady Dragons and Organized Chaos step teams; the spring musical cast in “Once Upon a Mattress”; the Brooklyn Tech Chorus, Jazz Band; Orchestral Ensemble; and soloists Yangchen Lhamo ’23 (Biological Sciences) for the national anthem and Ashley Webster ’23 (Chemical Engineering) for “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

After the auditorium program concluded, alumni dined in the cafeteria; gathered for class and affinity-group photos; attended our new Fireside Chats; and toured the courtroom, Tech's laboratories, greenhouse, classrooms, library, natatorium, and gymnasia.
“The Class of 1973 50th Anniversary Homecoming Weekend was wonderful,” notes Tom Hernandez, Homecoming chair and 1973 lead rep. “Our classmates, who came from near and far, were back -- some for the first time since graduation -- to relive great memories of their four years at Tech. The old building has withstood the test of time – and so have our classmates! It was just wonderful.”
“We come from this incredible school, which gave us the tools to achieve, work within and build communities, and do transformational things,” executive director Courtney J. Ulrich '90 said on Saturday. “And we are here—crazy loyal to this school. Why do we come back? Why do we stay connected? Why do our hearts leap a bit wherever and whenever we meet a Technite—from any generation, class year or major? Because we have a deeply soulful connection to this place—and what we achieved here together.” To keep that pride alive, she asked alumni “to do three simple things: Connect. Get Involved. Give Back.”
